I love Reykjavik. it’s all energy by summer and by winter hibernation (and the experimentation that results in). badly-lit brown unredecorated coffee shops with human grease stains on the walls, churches that look like waterfalls, outdoor baths, abundant mushrooms…!

here one in a HH/RnB style (let’s not be specific). Henrik Biering & Blaz Roca ft Friðrik Dór – Keyrumettígang (produced by StopWaitGo). Hold tight the executable saturated current.

….

Sykur are three sweet young people from Reykjavik. Here is some well-penned hype and a track from their 2009 record “Frábært eða frábært” [buy].

“SYKUR was originally founded in the early nineteenth century by a small group of Icelandic aristocrats who envisioned music as a means of letting go of one self and rejoice in a wild dance. Naturally, they were way ahead of their contemporary musicians who mainly used music for science and skiing.

The original team, who then called themselves ‘Sigkjör’ held countless social gatherings, some said to have lasted for days on end until they suffered a horrible synthesizer accident in 1893, decapitating three and rendering themselves unable to easily access their spleens and other internal organs. Over the years several people have upheld their legacy and now the latest group to take up their banner consists of Stefán Finnbogason, Halldór Eldjárn and Kristján Eldjárn Hjörleifsson.

No one knows what happened after 31. may 2008. But you are about to find it out.”

Finally, evil madness who you may know better as BJ Nilsen, Stilluppsteypa‘s Helgi Þórsson and Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson, Jóhann Jóhannsson and Pétur Eyvindsson let loose on a load of analog gear. Buy their record through 12tonar. Again, they have unfuckwithable hype.

“Part demon horror flick, part zombie shark and whale fight scenes, it is to be overpowered by the largest independent tentacle in the world. Corporations take notice and use this roaming squid appendage as a source of bringing dead pets back to life to work dullish day jobs, leviathinii walking on large makeshift scaffolding leggings with the power generated, and a it’s also a proprietary syllogistic model for CEO loss set up in close circuit yacht videos.”

and a couple from sweden’s blendasound. they’ve got a ton of synth-y reggae remixes over here as well as some originals with original chappa. here are two on the same riddim. refixes of swedish female dancehall duo serengeti and rhianna’s rudeboy. wide synths are key this summer.
