matthew herbert has a new record out. herbert is primarily an electronic composer, who previously built records out of sampling the human body and the food industry. this record (entitled one one) contains only sound produced by herbert and is the first part of a trilogy. the second part (one club) is built entirely from crowd sound in a club in hamburg. the third (one pig) returns to the food industry and charts the birth, life, slaughter and consumption of a single pig. on one one he sings. his voice is quite soft and heavily treated. so, using this as a diveboard, here’s a post about voices and electronics, or more loosely, a post about electronic music that people sing over…
