I was once walking through Mile End (neighbourhood in Montreal) on St. Jean Baptiste day (Quebec national holiday). I walked in between a McDonalds and a troupe of drunk kids who had toppled down some sign posts and were preparing to ram the pole through the windows. Beer bottles flew into the windows over my head, and a young McDonanlds employee looked perturbed on the other side of glass. I heard the bathrooms in that McDonlad’s have neon lights in the toilets so that heroin users can’t find their veins.

I later joined up with a couple street parties, wondering if I would see the dude behind Bran Van 3000, who apparently lived in the neighbourhood at the time.

Good croissants and a boite noir in the area too.
